Sticking

The part sticks to the cavity or core and does not release cleanly.

◆ Common Causes

  • •Insufficient draft or undercuts
  • •Excessive hold pressure (part grips the cavity)
  • •Rough or damaged mold surface
  • •Insufficient ejection or release agent
  • •Improper mold temperature

◆ Solutions

  • ✓Add draft; remove undercuts
  • ✓Reduce hold pressure
  • ✓Polish mold surface (in the draw direction)
  • ✓Apply release agent; check ejectors
  • ✓Adjust mold temperature

◆ Resin-Specific Notes

PC

Tacky; tends to stick to the core. Draft and polish matter.

TPU

Soft and tacky. Manage release agent and cooling.

PMMA

Surface tack. Manage polish and release conditions.
